City of Arts and Sciences:
A modern complex which rises over the old causeway of the river TURIA. Designed by the famous architect Santiago Calatrava with modern lines, it comprises the L’Oceanográfic (Currently the largest aquarium in Europe), L’Hemisféric (A modern IMAX cinema), Prince Felipe´s Science Museum, Reina Sofia´s Palace of Arts (Valencia Opera House) and Ágora (a modern Sports Pavilion). Tickets can be purchased at no additional cost at the Customer Care desk.
Biopark and River Turia causeway:
In addition to the City of Arts and Sciences, in the old causeway of the river Túria there is an extensive garden covering a length of nearly 10Kms which is a wonderful place to for bicycle rides, to walk and to enjoy many other activities for the younger ones such as Gulliver´s Park. Right at the end of this enormous garden you will find the Cabecera Park with an artificial lake brimming with life. Right next to the lake is the Biopark. A zoo exclusively dedicated to African Flora and Fauna boasting a very modern concept: there are no barriers that separate animals from visitors. In this way you will enjoy the unique sensation of walking through the different regions of Africa. You can purchase your entrance tickets for the Biopark at the Hotel´s Customer Care counter at no additional cost.
Night Life:
Valencia is characterised by its nightlife. You will find hundreds of places where you can enjoy a drink, dance… from select night clubs to bars and Jazz clubs and live music. The main areas are the Port, the Cánovas area, Carmen area and the Juan Llorens area.
Museums
Valencia has excellent museums. One of the most important of which is the Valencian Institute of Modern Art (IVAM), with important Exhibitions and Modern Art collections; The National Ceramic Museum, very traditional in Valencia; Museum of Fine Arts San Pío V, with important Renaissance Collections housed in what used to be the San Carlos Academy of Fine Arts.
Formula 1 and GP Motorbike Championship
Valencia has an exclusive urban Formula 1 circuit. In the month of August this important sporting event takes place and attracts visitors from around the world who come to watch the racing cars pass at nearly 300Km/hr through the Port and the streets near the hotel. And if that weren´t enough adrenalin and speed, Valencia is also host to the Spanish leg of the International Motorbike Championship at the Ricardo Tormo circuit of Cheste (only 22 minutes away from Valencia). This event is usually the last race of the world championship and can often be where the best motorbike racers in the world are decided on, for this reason expectations are high amongst biking fanatics.
Other Visits
Do not miss a visit to L’Albufera, a beautiful natural lake only a ten minute drive away from the city, where Valencia´s traditional way of life is still conserved. You will also be able to taste traditional dishes in some of the nearby restaurants. You could also escape to Sagunto, one of the oldest settlements on the Peninsula and visit the amazing castle and it´s renovated Roman Theatre.
